I attended The City College of New York in the early 1960’s. Took the subway to 137th and Broadway and walked to the campus. Had an 8:00 AM physical education class for guys who couldn’t swim. We all got swimming lessons nude, no trunks and no one seemed to care. The professor wore a robe and trunks when giving instructions. He would disrobe and remove his trunks only when he went into the water. Out of the water, it was trunks and robe again. It would have been a real hassle carrying wet swimming trunks around all day, so nude swimming was a blessing.
I would like to make a brief comment on this topic.At 12 years old going to a small private school the teacher was just out of college took us to the Y on a cold winter day. He went inside and when he came back and said that the gym is closed but they have a pool! Saying to us we have to swim nude. Anything was better than the cold bus we were on and in unison there was a loud yes! So the teacher guided towards the locker and everyone stripped naked including the teacher no one cared about our nakedness.We were all excited to go swimming! There was diving and playing tackle with the teacher. We all had so much fun being naked in the pool for the afternoon being in a warm pool instead of a cold classroom a experience never to be forgotten or duplicated We all enjoyed that special moment in life.
