Roger Kumble debuted writing and directing “Cruel Intentions”, an adaptation of the famous novel by Choderlos de Laclos, setting the story in the adolescent world of New York high society. The idea, on its basis, is as risky as it is curious, and at the time it was an ideal commercial product, with a cast that included young actors who were just starting to emerge, such as Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Philippe, Reese Witherspoon and Selma Blair, an attractive cast for young viewers. And the idea did very well at the box office.
