I’ve been driving a M340i for almost 2 years now, and we just added a X7 40i to the fleet. Obviously I miss the power of the M340i when driving the X7, but the X7 never feels like it is really lacking power. I’m sure that difference is going to be even more pronounced between your M5 and any X7. As others have said, the 40i is definitely powerful enough for the car. However, if you had the budget for the M5 and you’re getting rid of it anyway, just splurge and get the X7 M50i. I don’t know about you, but if I got the 40i and the M50i was a realistic possibility, I would constantly be thinking “I should’ve just gotten the M50i.”
I’ve heard mixed reviews on ride comfort for the x7. Im looking into a used one, 2019-2021, possibly 40i, but some say to go for the 50i or m50i, since if it has the DHP package with active comfort drive. For those who have driven both, is there a difference, ik its subjective cause some x7s dont have run flats and others do, plus 21 vs 22 inch wheels are another factor. Im coming from a gl550 which is pretty soft and i prefer soft. I know theres also “comfort plus” mode that can be coded in, make the dampers a bit softer, has anyone done that specifically to the 40i. Let me know your thoughts.
Overall there’s a lot we like about the Mercedes GLS, but unfortunately at this price point two others do it better.
The Lincoln Navigator Black Label truly feels a cut above and beyond the others. It’s the best balance of actual honest-to-goodness luxury, comfort, value, and driving experience. More important, the Lincoln Navigator is currently the most cohesive and convincing three-row SUV on the market.
No probs.
I take my car to Lind in Colchester despite Chlemsford being closer. I have built up an excellent relationship with them over the years and I am on first name terms with all of service parts and most of car sales including the DP!!
I think the trick is to have a certain amount if understanding with them. I have taken my car back to day to have some paintwork sorted that wasn’t quite right (the rusty bit I had on the boot). Having had a sensible conversation about it will get done properly.
They haven’t got hold of my B10 that much yet but a lot of the technicians are genuinely interested in the cars and I have seen one other B10 there and a B3S so they do see Alpinas occassionally.
I cann’t comment whether they are better than Sytner as I have never used Sytner but based on others feedback, I would feel safer taking my car to Lind in Colchester.
